About Elena
Before I found dance I played multiple sports, including tennis and track. None of it came easily to me. I was unathletic, lacked strength, and battled constant injuries, including debilitating back pain. On a quest to get out of pain and improve my performance, I started lifting weights and became obsessed with optimizing my alignment and movement patterns. My obsession led me to earn a PhD in Kinesiology and it was around this time that I began to study ballet.
As an adult beginner with no dance experience, I really struggled with understanding ballet technique and applying it to my own body. From turnout to extensions to pointe work I had to break everything down into minute detail and really grow awareness of the correct biomechanics. I spent years connecting the dots between my understanding of sports performance and the unique demands of ballet as a highly skilled art form. As a result, I’ve developed a strength training program that serves my technique goals in ballet, and I’m still dancing and performing on pointe in my 40’s.
Now, I help other dancers do the same. I teach my clients how to get out of pain, build strength and mobility, and apply what they do in the weight room to improve their technique and performance in the studio and on stage. My Strength 4 Dancers Membership is a culmination of my experience, and I’m so excited to share it with you!
